The festival of Navratri
The entire country is celebrating Navratri right now with much enthusiasm and fervour. It is one of the most auspicious times in the Hindu calendar and is celebrated through different ways in different parts of the country. During this time, devotees sing songs in honour of the goddess and observe fast as well.
Things to keep
However, do you know that apart from the usual rituals, few things, if kept at home during Navratras can help you attract health and wealth? Here are those things and make sure to get them home..
Lotus
The lotus flower is a favourite of Goddess Laxmi --- it is said that keeping a fresh lotus flower in your temple every day during Navratras will make Goddess Laxmi happy and she will bless you with health and wealth.
Silver or Gold coin
it is considered auspicious if you a buy a gold or silver coin with a picture of Laxmi and Ganesh embossed on it. You can do so on the first day of Navratris and keep it in either in your temple or your household locker.
Peacock feather
Goddess Saraswati held a peacock as very close to her --- it is said that keeping a peacock feather in your temple will attract positive vibes for you and will also cure the Vastu Dosha in your area.
Laxmi idol
It is said that for wealth and prosperity, you should bring home an idol of Goddess Laxmi. Make sure she is in a sitting position in the idol, showering her blessings on everyone.

Navratra is the celebration of the female beauty, so it is said that buying the "16 shringar" or cosmetic items during Navratras will make you healthy and wealthy. Let us now talk about the must do's during this Navratri and talk about the things that are deemed important during Navratri.
North east
The North East direction, also known as Ishan kon is considered as the direction of Gods. Place the idol of the durga in this direction and pray to her idol daily.
Akhand jyot
If you are lighting an "akhand jyot" for the Goddess, then make sure to keep it in the South West direction. If you can't manage an akhand jyot, get one that will last through out the entire night.
Face east or north
While doing the Puja, make sure that you face the east or north direction. Also make sure that there are no dirty clothes lying around your temple area. Make sure that the area in and around your temple is clean and pure --- make sure to burn some incense sticks as well.
Changing the flag
If you have a flag on the top of the temple, make sure that you hoist it in the North West direction everyday. A home flag should always be allowed to flutter in the air and not kept confined within the four halls of the house.
Idol keeping
Never place your idol near the bathroom. Also every temple should have an area to sit on and pray to God. You can do so while sitting on a mat as well... Now, let's talk about the different form of the Goddess that are prayed to during this period and what "bhog" is served to them.
Mata Chandraghanta
While praying to Mata Chandraghanta, offer milk, sweets made of milk or Kheer to her. This is said to relieve all your pains and provide peace and prosperity.
Mata Kushmanda
Mata Kushmanda is offered Malpua as Bhog. It is said that offering the Goddess Maa malpua is said to be make you intelligent, wise and will also help you immensely at work.
Mata Skandmata
To Mata Skandmata, a Banana is offered as a bhog. It is said that doing so keeps the family healthy. It also makes sure that there is never any shortage of food in your family.
Mata Katyayani
It is said that honey is offered as Bhog to Maa Katyayani. It is said that this makes you physically more attractive. For those girls who are unmarried, this serves as a remedy to get married as well.
Mata Kaalratri
Jaggery (gur) is offered as Bhog to the Mata --- this along with doing some dakshina for the poor can reap rich benefits for you. Make sure that you offer some food and clothes to a needy person.
Mata Mahagauri
Coconut is offered as bhog to Mata Mahagauri ---- It is said that doing so will help an infertile couple conceive a child. You can do so, not just during Navratras, but all throughout the year.
Goddess Siddhidatri
On the ninth day of Navratra, Mata Siddhidatri is worshipped. She is also said to the Goddess of accomplishment. It is said that offering Til as a Bhog to the Goddess prevents one from accidents and untimely deaths in the family.
